At the Pépite 2023 awards ceremony, on October 12, 2023, at the University of Toulon, three startup projects led by Université Côte d'Azur students were honored.

Created in 2014, the Pépite awards encourage students and young graduates who are starting innovative businesses. They receive help during the start-up process, initial financial assistance and support through the Pépite Student Centers for innovation, transfer and entrepreneurship located throughout France.

The Pépite Awards created at the initiative of the MESR with support from Bpifrance, are organized by Pépite Paca-Est. The 2023 awards ceremony was held on October 12 at the University of Toulon. Three student projects from Université Côte d'Azur were singled out for a prize and will benefit from start-up support.
  • Mauvaise Herbe - Nicolas Thomas (Besign)
Production of plant-based pebbles to fertilize dry soils and an introductory workshop on biodiversity and recycling for children.
Winner of the Grand Prize for the Ecological Transition - €7,000
 
  • Play Azur Production - Brice Guisado (Associé de Bastien Vergoni) - (Master in Digital Strategy - Economy and Management Graduate School)
Eco-scientific videos that draw the public's attention to the PACA region's scientific and cultural ecosystem, and showcase the region's researchers.
Winner of the Young Company Award - €2,000
 
  • AlgUp - Delphin ISOARDI (DUT GEII)
User-friendly bioreactor for growing spirulina. Controls light, temperature, air and filtration, and reduces the need for external intervention.
Winner of the Innovation Award - €2,000

The Mauvaise Herbe project will enter the Pépite national competition along with Educ' Evasion, a startup created by members of the University of Toulon.
