The 5th edition of the Soph.I.A Summit was held from 23 to 25 November, 2022, in Sophia Antipolis, organized by Université Côte d'Azur, the Sophia Antipolis Urban Community and Sophia Club Entreprises, with the support of the Alpes-Maritimes Department. More than 400 participants attended.

Corporate professionals, experts and researchers from all over the world addressed the challenges of AI from a scientific perspective around the six key themes of the event: Health, Biology, Territories, Sustainability, Management and Fundamentals.

In total, no less than 50 lectures, keynote speeches, round tables and presentations were given by renowned national and international researchers, doctoral students and also national and international public institutions. The event concluded with a speech by Carlos Torrecilla Salinas of the EU Commission on the European AI strategy and an award ceremony.

The work and lectures focused on some of today's major global issues through the lens of artificial intelligence research, in the areas of health and data security, as well as our response to the challenges of climate change, food insecurity and sustainable cities and buildings.

The event was held in partnership with the following private and public, national and international organizations: 3IA Côte d'Azur, Accenture, Amadeus, CNRS, Eurecom, ICAIR, Median Technologies, Skema Business School and the startup Videtics, but also, beginning this year, Quebec City as well as French, English, Israeli and Quebec scientific, technological and academic media.

Researchers rewarded for ambitious and promising work

Several dozen researchers and doctoral students responded to the call for applications launched last summer to reward the most promising projects. This year, for the first time, the Soph.I.A Summit offered the winners prizes of several thousand euros.
After an initial selection by the Soph.I.A Summit scientific committee, 24 researchers and doctoral students were able to present their work at the summit (18 posters and 4 demonstrations). Five prizes were then awarded for the prospects of the research and the quality of the presentation. The winners were announced at the closing ceremony: the five prizes, including three sponsored by Université Côte d'Azur, were awarded and winners each received a check for €2,000.

The 6th edition of SophI.A summit has now been confirmed and will be held from 22–24 November, 2023.
