women for women
On Monday, September 28, 2026, the School of Medicine launched the first cohort of the “Women for Women” university certificate program. This innovative program aims to train women from priority neighborhoods in Nice to become health education peers and address the specific needs of their communities.
Organized in partnership with the Nice University Hospital and the Maison des Femmes, the “Women for Women” university certificate program is part of an initiative to “reach out” to communities. Inspired by a program developed in Marseille, it aims to strengthen prevention, access to information, and health support for women, using a peer-based approach.
This first cohort brings together six participants enrolled in a 75-hour training program. Structured around seven major themes—women’s health, perinatal health, mental health and addiction, environmental health and nutrition, oral health, violence against women, and psychosocial skills—the training alternates between theoretical instruction and hands-on practice.
Health Promotion Workshops
Held from September through January at the Faculty of Medicine, the foundational phase is followed by a practical phase beginning in January, taking place in priority neighborhoods, at partner organizations, and within partner institutions. There, participants will lead health promotion workshops, thereby contributing to the collaborative development of solutions tailored to on-the-ground realities.
Beyond the acquisition of knowledge, this certificate program aims to develop participants’ autonomy and capacity for action, while promoting their social and professional integration, particularly into careers in health prevention outreach.
The program’s kickoff event took place in the presence of institutional partners and included a welcome session, speeches, and a detailed presentation of the program, followed by a tour of the Faculty for the participants.
