The Y chromosome does not shorten the lifespan of males
A new study published in June 2023 in Nature Ecology and Evolution by a team from the Valrose Institute of Biology (Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS) demonstrates that the Y chromosome has no impact on male longevity. This discovery refutes the widespread hypothesis that the Y chromosome has a toxic effect and shortens the lifespan of men.

Alzheimer's disease:  the dual function of the amyloid-β peptide precursor protein
Brain function is regulated by synapses that establish communication between neurons. A new study, led by Dr. Paula Pousinha, Associate Professor at Université Côte d'Azur and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC, Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS), in collaboration with the team of Dr. Luisa Lopes (iMM; Portugal), has shown that a protein involved in Alzheimer's disease has a dual function in regulating the activity of neuronal synapses in early development and in old age. These results were published on 27 January 2023 in the journal Aging Cell.
