More than just an anniversary, the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Cellule Europe Mutualisée (CEM), held on June 17 at the Château de Valrose, highlighted above all the now-central role of this pioneering organization in supporting the Côte d’Azur’s European research strategy.
Bringing together representatives from MESRE, researchers, grant recipients (ERC, MSCA, Cluster), experts, and institutional partners, the event provided an opportunity to look back on ten years of European support, while offering a forum for discussion on funding opportunities and feedback from project leaders.
Ten years after its creation, the CEM is proud of the European momentum it has built and the resulting achievements: 52 ERC grants , 43 Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) grants , and 23 European project coordinations , totaling 170.2 million euros in secured funding.
Its 10th anniversary also marks the formalization of its status, as—after ten years of operation—this day provided the opportunity to sign an agreement among its members: Université Côte d’Azur, CHUN, CNRS, Inria, INRAE, INSERM, IRD, and OCA. By bringing together universities, research organizations, and healthcare institutions to provide shared support for European project calls, the CEM reaffirms through this agreement its role as a catalyst for regional scientific development and a driving force behind the Côte d’Azur region’s international competitiveness.
Finally, this anniversary also provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and to thank all those who, on a daily basis, assist and support European projects, as well as those who embrace Europe and contribute to its influence.
