A partnership agreement was signed with Campus Sud des Métiers (CCI Nice Côte d’Azur) on September 18 at the Valrose campus to establish the Diploma in Scientific and Technical University Studies (DEUST) in Pharmacy Preparation and Technology. This work-study program is designed to meet the growing needs of the pharmaceutical sector while enhancing the professional development of students in the Côte d’Azur region.

Offered by the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Côte d’Azur’s Faculty of Medicine, this degree is part of a national initiative to bring pharmacy technician training into the university system, thereby raising qualification standards and promoting career advancement as well as further education.

Lasting two years (120 ECTS credits), the DEUST is based on a work-study model that combines theoretical instruction, practical work, and professional immersion in a pharmacy or healthcare facility. This structure allows for a gradual development of skills and better alignment with real-world practice.

This partnership builds on the complementary strengths of the two institutions:
• Université Côte d’Azur is responsible for defining the academic framework of the degree, validating coursework, and awarding the degree;
• Campus Sud des Métiers oversees the operational implementation of the program, the recruitment of work-study students, and relationships with businesses.

By drawing on innovative teaching methods and close interaction with industry professionals, this program aims to support the evolving role of pharmacy technicians, particularly in light of new public health initiatives and changes in the healthcare system.

Rooted in the region’s needs, this program will also help address recruitment challenges in pharmacies and ensure students’ career paths through work-study programs and the acquisition of skills that are directly applicable in the workplace.

“This agreement marks a significant step forward for the development of health-related programs at Université Côte d’Azur. The DEUST in Pharmacy Technician is fully aligned with the trend toward academic recognition of the profession. Developed in collaboration with local stakeholders through a work-study program, this degree meets the sector’s needs while offering students a career-oriented and progressive educational path. It exemplifies our ambition to offer programs that are directly aligned with current health and employment challenges.” Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur
