Université Côte d’Azur is hosting the 2026 ENCATC Congress, an international event dedicated to the issues shaping the cultural and creative sectors. Researchers, artists, professionals, and public policymakers will gather there to reflect together on the evolving nature of artistic work and the cultural ecosystems of the future.

Artistic Work at the Heart of the Debate

Organized in partnership with Université Côte d’Azur and co-hosted by SIC.Lab Méditerranée and GREDEG, the ENCATC 2026 Congress brings together an international community of educators, researchers, artists, cultural professionals, and public policy representatives. This interdisciplinary gathering, led by Stamatina Magkou, a research associate at SIC.Lab Méditerranée, aims to explore changes in artistic careers, working conditions, and support models for the cultural and creative sectors.

An international dialogue to inform cultural policy

The conference will open with a plenary lecture by Pierre-Michel Menger, a professor at the Collège de France and a renowned specialist in the sociology of artistic labor and creative professions. Through lectures, roundtables, and discussions, the event aims to foster collective reflection on cultural policies and contribute to the development of ecosystems that are more equitable, resilient, and adapted to contemporary challenges.
