From October 26 to 29, 2026, Université Côte d’Azur hosted the European Youth Energy Forum (EYEF) in Nice, a European event bringing together students, young professionals, researchers, and stakeholders in the energy sector to discuss the major challenges of the energy transition.
Organized by the European Youth Energy Network (EYEN) , a European network of young students and professionals committed to addressing energy issues, the European Youth Energy Forum was held in collaboration with the European Ulysseus Alliance and UlySA, the Alliance’s student association. The event was supported by Université Côte d’Azur as part of its Initiative of Excellence (IdEx).
The Forum placed young people at the center of the discussions. Through panel discussions and participatory workshops, the discussions explored ways to strengthen youth participation in European and international energy policies and to give them an active role in decision-making processes. Energy poverty, energy diplomacy, electrification, and preparations for the COP were among the key themes of this year’s event.

Discussions also focused on solutions to accelerate the transition to more sustainable energy systems, ranging from the integration of renewable energy to the development of heating and cooling networks and new storage technologies. Several sessions explored the skills required for these transformations, as well as the links between research, innovation, and industry to foster the development of concrete solutions.
Inclusion issues featured prominently in the program, particularly through discussions on the role of women in the energy sector, workplace inequalities, and initiatives to foster more inclusive work environments and support women’s access to leadership positions.

A framework agreement to bring together research, youth, and public policy
A highlight of this year’s event was Université Côte d’Azur’s signing of a framework collaboration agreement with the European Youth Energy Network (EYEN). This new milestone in the partnership between the two organizations is part of an initiative supported by Université Côte d’Azur’s Initiative of Excellence (IdEx).

This agreement establishes a framework for cooperation centered on the European energy transition and the dialogue between science and public policy. It paves the way for future collaborations in research, publications, and events, as well as greater involvement of students and young researchers—particularly doctoral and postdoctoral candidates working on energy issues.
This partnership is fully aligned with Université Côte d’Azur’s commitments to the energy and environmental transition and contributes to its science diplomacy strategy. By strengthening ties between the scientific community, civil society, and the next generation, the University aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and increase the impact of its interdisciplinary expertise on major contemporary challenges.
