As Secretary General of the U7+ Alliance, Université Côte d’Azur was invited by French President Emmanuel Macron to the Élysée Palace to discuss the social role of universities.

Alongside the Alliance’s President, its Steering Committee and the hosts of the U7+ Presidents’ Summit held in Paris this week, Université Côte d’Azur has helped to position universities on the multilateral stage.

With their unique position, universities contribute with strength and conviction to the emergence of global solutions, inform public policy and bring the voice of research and young people to the highest level.

In this regard, President Macron praised the Alliance’s ability to maintain and nurture a long-term vision in a political and geopolitical climate characterised by a tendency towards immediacy.

Beyond this institutional recognition, this invitation reflects the collective work of our academic community. That of all those who, every day, bring the university to life: who research, innovate, impart knowledge and educate. In this way, academic excellence and commitment project our region’s reputation far beyond its borders, both nationally and internationally.

It is up to universities to continue to make this voice heard, to champion this collective endeavour, and to emphasise, in no uncertain terms, that it deserves to be recognised, supported and valued at the highest level.
