On June 5 and 6, the Institut Méditerranéen du Risque, de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable (IMREDD) hosted "ONE HEALTH: Well-Being and Sustainability in the Blue Economy", a major international event in the context of the United Nations Conference on the Oceans 2025 (UNOC 2025).

This official UNOC side event marked a key stage in the strengthening of cooperation between France, Monaco and Italy in the field of innovation applied to the Blue Economy.

Strong institutional mobilization

The institutional dimension of the event was reinforced by the presence of personalities committed to cross-border cooperation. Among them :
  • Emilio LOLLI, Consul General of Italy in Nice
  • Laurence NAVALESI, Nice City Councillor, sub-delegated to Cross-Border Relations
  • Cécile SABOURAULT, Vice-President of Université Côte d'Azur in charge of International Affairs
Their speeches highlighted the importance of a concerted, transnational approach to meet the environmental, economic and health challenges facing the Mediterranean, and to make the Blue Economy a lever for sustainable, shared transition.

A transnational innovation ecosystem for the Blue Economy

The fruit of cooperation between IMREDD, the San Raffaele University Hospital in Milan and the Consorzio Industriale Provinciale Nord-Est Sardegna (CIPNES Gallura), the One Health program aims to create an integrated ecosystem of technological innovation, based on industrial partnerships and research projects. It is part of the creation of an international network designed to meet the major global challenges of the Blue Economy. The aim is to encourage the transition to healthier, more sustainable and responsible lifestyles.

An interactive B2B format for concrete synergies

The event brought together 34 companies, start-ups and research laboratories from France, Monaco and Italy, in a dynamic B2B format favoring networking, targeted meetings and the development of joint projects.
Pitching sessions, matchmaking appointments and networking events enabled concrete opportunities for industrial collaboration to emerge, as well as the formation of consortia to respond to calls for projects.

A highlight: the Blue Innovation Awards ceremony

A particularly eagerly-awaited highlight of the two-day event was the Blue Innovation Awards, which honored seven outstanding initiatives for their impact, originality and contribution to a sustainable Blue Economy. The 2025 winners are :
  • Technological Innovation for the Sea: WSENSE

A lever for growth and cooperation

Finally, in partnership with the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, CIPNES Gallura presented concrete funding opportunities for structures wishing to set up or develop a branch in Sardinia. Targeted actions are already planned to reinforce the internationalization of Sardinian companies and encourage their exchanges with French, Italian and Monegasque players.

Towards a lasting alliance in the Mediterranean

This event was much more than just a forum for discussion: it laid the foundations for operational and sustainable cooperation, placing territorial cooperation, technology and innovation at the service of the protection of marine ecosystems and the well-being of local populations. A meeting of excellence for all players in the Mediterranean Blue Economy.
