TheEngineRoom, a cutting-edge lab at the University of Genoa, is seeking talented PhD students to conduct research in the fields of Human-Robot Interaction and Artificial Intelligence.

The lab offers distinct research themes:

DRIM PhD Program

  1. Advanced integration of perception and navigation systems for unstructured environments in coordination with human beings – in collaboration with Leonardo S.p.A.
  2. Cognitive robot architectures based on prediction machine theory
  3. Methods and techniques for robotized grab ship unloaders – in collaboration with Tenova S.p.A.

Bioengineering and Robotics PhD School (DIBRIS Department, UniGe)

  1. Robot avatars and their embodiment
  2. A multi-modal, cognitive extension to surgeons for robot-assisted surgery
  3. Methods and techniques to synthesize in-hand manipulation actions
  4. A distributed, cognitive architecture for Cephalopods-inspired robots


Eligibility

Candidates must have a master’s degree in a relevant field or be planning to defend their master’s thesis by October 21, 2024. Applications should include 1-3 recommendation letters from university professors or experts, sent directly by the referees to the PhD coordinator before the deadline.
