On July 8, 2025, a ground-breaking conference was held in Brussels, entitled "Europe-Africa scientific diplomacy: what contribution can the world's leading university network make?

At the invitation of the AUF, Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d'Azur, took part in a day devoted to scientific diplomacy. On this occasion, Jean-Christophe Martin, Director of the Institute for Peace and Development (IdPD), presented the MOOC "La diplomatie scientifique : enjeux et perspectives" (Scientific diplomacy: issues and perspectives), co-financed by the AUF and developed in partnership with the CAP of Université Côte d'Azur.

This online course offers a progressive exploration of the interactions between science, politics and diplomacy on a global scale. It enables learners to:
  • Distinguish the fundamental principles and issues of science diplomacy
  • Identify the key players involved in science diplomacy and understand their impact on resolving global challenges
  • Identify the different mechanisms and structures of international scientific collaboration.
A key pillar of the internationalization strategy supported by IdEx, science diplomacy is a subject of growing interest, as evidenced by the 3,000 registrations for the MOOC over the past five months.
