The CNRS is honoring Sabine Scarzello, a research engineer at the Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging (IRCAN), and Jérôme Chèze, a research engineer at Géoazur, by awarding them the 2026 Crystal Medal. This award recognizes staff members whose expertise and dedication make a vital contribution to the functioning and influence of research.
Each year, the CNRS honors female and male engineers and technicians for their exceptional contributions to research and laboratory operations.
At IRCAN (CNRS/Inserm/Université Côte d’Azur), Sabine Scarzello has been overseeing infrastructure, maintenance, logistics, and risk prevention for over ten years, supporting the institute’s development and the teams working on the mechanisms of cancer and aging.
At Géoazur (CNRS/Université Côte d’Azur/Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur/IRD), Jérôme Chèze designs digital tools dedicated to the analysis of seismological data, thereby helping to improve the observation and understanding of seismic phenomena.
