From October 2 to 12, 2026, the Fête de la Science returns to the Alpes-Maritimes for its 35th edition, centered on the theme “Saveurs Savantes.” Coordinated in the department by the Science and Society Office at Université Côte d’Azur, this event invites the general public and schoolchildren to meet researchers, conduct experiments, and discover science in all its forms.

For ten days, a wide range of activities will be offered in several towns throughout the Alpes-Maritimes department, including Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, Mouans-Sartoux, Valbonne, Villeneuve-Loubet, Sophia Antipolis, and other areas of the department.

The Science Villages will feature workshops, talks, and hands-on activities for people of all ages. Highlights include: the Nice Science Festival on October 3 and 4, the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Science Village on October 10 and 11, events in Grasse from October 3 to 10, as well as events in Mouans-Sartoux, Valbonne, Sophia Antipolis, and Villeneuve-Loubet.

The program also includes numerous one-time events: tours of laboratories and research centers, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and scientific experiments.

“Saveurs Savantes”: Science Also Comes to the Table

This year’s event invites visitors to explore the connections between science, food, taste, and cooking.

In Cannes, for example, the public can discover the science of cooking through workshops on gelation, emulsification, coagulation, fermentation, and germination, as well as participate in blind tastings and explore the connections between food, the environment, and health.

Other events will explore gastronomy from the perspectives of chemistry, biology, artificial intelligence, the environment, and even astronomy.

A program also dedicated to schoolchildren

The Fête de la Science also offers numerous events for elementary, middle, and high schools in several municipalities throughout the department.

Students will be able to participate in Science Villages, workshops, and activities designed specifically for them. The “Science in the Classroom” program also allows schools—particularly those located far from the Science Villages—to host a researcher from the Alpes-Maritimes directly on their campus.
