The answer is much more complex than it seems. In a new video produced by the science outreach channel Scilabus, find out why scientists today are more interested in how the brain and inflammation work than in the simple number displayed on the scale.

Drawing on the latest scientific research, this video debunks several common misconceptions about obesity and addresses a particularly controversial question: Is it possible to be obese and still be healthy?

To answer this question, the video explores the biological mechanisms involved in obesity, the brain’s role in regulating metabolism, and the links between chronic inflammation and health.

This collaboration is part of the projects funded by the ANR (French National Research Agency). It also highlights the work of Carole Rovère, a researcher at the IPMC (Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS, INSERM), conducted as part of the RANTES project, which focuses on the links between obesity, inflammation, and the brain.

Accessible to everyone, this video provides a better understanding of a public health issue that is often reduced to simplistic ideas, while drawing on findings from scientific research.
