The former French President was the guest of honor at the Université Côte d'Azur for a unique conference on the exercise of presidential power, closing an international symposium dedicated to this theme. Watch the exclusive video interview with François Hollande on the occasion of this conference and his message to the entire university community.
On June 6, 2025, François Hollande, former President of the Republic and Member of Parliament for Corrèze, was at Nice's Faculty of Law and Political Science at the invitation of Université Côte d'Azur. As a keynote speaker at the conference " Quelle pratique du pouvoir présidentiel? Un retour d'expérience ", he gave a rare and enlightening account of the realities of presidential office under the Fifth Republic.
Moderated by Vincent Martigny, professor of political science at the Université Côte d'Azur, and Thomas Wieder, journalist at Le Monde, the discussion revisited key moments of his five-year term, while offering an in-depth reflection on the transformations of the presidential function.
The conference closed the international colloquium "The practice of presidential power under the Fifth Republic: institutional issues and political developments", organized on June 5 and 6 by Vincent Martigny and Pauline Türk, professors at Université Côte d'Azur.
A singular presidential voice

Changes in the presidential role under the Fifth Republic
Coming to power and managing the first days in office
Choosing the Prime Minister and striking a balance with the parliamentary majority
Decision-making in situations of crisis or conflict
A lucid analysis of the current challenges facing the French political system
