For the first time and to mark its 60th anniversary, Université Côte d'Azur brought together its doctorate graduates at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes for a graduation ceremony on March 21, 2025. The ceremony was an opportunity to pay tribute to their work and their contribution to the scientific research of today and tomorrow.
The doctorate is the highest state diploma that only universities can award. It represents a commitment to and contribution to research, scientific production and economic development. In 2024, Université Côte d'Azur will have 1,250 doctoral students of 45 different nationalities working in 50 involved research structures; every year, 250 students defend their thesis.
In the emblematic setting of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, the Université graduation ceremony was led byAnne Vuillemin, Vice-President of Doctoral Policy at Université Côte d'Azur.Accompanied by their families and friends, the doctors were rewarded for their efforts, sacrifices and perseverance during their thesis years.
After an inaugural speech by David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes and President of the Cannes Lérins Agglomération, Jeanick Brisswalter, President of the University, and Frédérique Vidal, former President of the Université Nice Sophia-Antipolis and formerMinister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, delivered inspiring and engaging speeches, highlighting the importance of research, the fundamental role of doctors in society and the challenges that lie ahead.
