The partnership with SKEMA Business School has been strengthened with the launch of an academic chair dedicated to access to healthcare and prevention. Approved by the French Initiative d'Excellence (IdEx), this chair aims to analyze the determinants of health and combat health inequalities in France, by providing concrete, sustainable solutions through a union-based approach.
A research chair dedicated to public health issues
Territorial, social and environmental health disparities are at the heart of this innovative chair. Its aim: to decipher the determinants of health, whether linked to individual, environmental or socio-economic factors, or to the economic behavior of professionals in the sector.
The Chair's research focuses on two main areas: analysis of the behavior of healthcare professionals and the organization of the healthcare system, and the impact of various exposures (environment, poverty, access to healthcare services, etc.) on individual health. The aim is clear: to provide public decision-makers and healthcare professionals with concrete, operational analyses and tools to improve the health of populations.
A first-of-its-kind Observatory for a detailed view of access to healthcare
The Chair will also deploy France's first Observatory of Access to Healthcare. Based on a platform of historical data enhanced by artificial intelligence techniques, this unprecedented tool will make it possible to establish precise indicators on the state of the healthcare system at a fine territorial scale.
The Observatoire is committed to making certain data available as Open Data, offering researchers, local authorities and healthcare professionals unique information on theThis will provide researchers, local authorities and healthcare professionals with unique information on the population's accessibility (geographically and in terms of prices) to healthcare, the evolution of medical desertification and the effectiveness of public health policies.
A multidisciplinary team at the helm
Headed by Benjamin Montmartin, Professor of Econometrics and Data Science at SKEMA Business School, the Chair brings together recognized experts in various fields of medicine (immunology, gynecology, intensive care) and the social sciences. Among them are Jean Dellamonica, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Barbara Seitz-Polski, professor of immunology and nephrologist, Pierre-Alexis Gauci, gynecologist, and Catherine Laffineur, lecturer in economics at Université Côte d'Azur.
This initiative illustrates the determination of academic institutions to play a key role in major public health issues. With its ambitious objectives and cutting-edge AI analysis tools, the Université Côte d'Azur - SKEMA Chair aims to become a strategic lever for improving healthcare in France.
