Inspired by "Three minute thesis (3MT®)" in Australia, ma thèse en 180 secondes is a science popularization competition organized in France by France Universités and CNRS. Since 2014, it has challenged doctoral students and young PhDs to explain their research topic to the general public in French, using simple terms and a single slide, all in 3 minutes flat!
This year, 16 doctoral students took part in the 2025 edition. Since January, the candidates have been taking part in a training course on writing and speaking on stage, organized by Université Côte d'Azur in collaboration with the BAL company.
At the end of a 1-hour performance demonstrating the diversity of the research topics covered by Université Côte d'Azur laboratories, the jury*, chaired by Anne Vuillemin, vice-president of Ph.sidente Politique doctorale, awarded the 1st prize to Emilie Gentilini from the Institut de Chimie de Nice. The public prize was awarded to Félix Gudin, who also received the jury's second prize.

For the second year, the event welcomed 5 classes of high school students in the afternoon, in partnership with the Délégation Académique à l'éducation Artistique et Culturelle of the Rectorat de Nice. The high-school students were able to watch the doctoral students perform during this special session and vote for their favorite candidate. Margaux Sanchez won the Prix des Lycéens.
