To coincide with mental health information weeks, Université Côte d'Azur is launching a new prevention tool: the Student Mental Health Barometer. Designed by the Centre de Santé Universitaire, in partnership with all those involved in the Conseil Local en Santé Mentale de la Ville de Nice, this tool aims to raise awareness, encourage listening and referral to the help resources available on campus.

Designed to be simple, concrete and benevolent, the Barometer takes the form of a paper document distributed at prevention stands and to professionals at the Centre de Santé Universitaire. Through a series of indicators relating to sleep, stress, motivation, emotions, life balance and social relationships, it invites each student to assess his or her state of psychological well-being. The aim is not to make a diagnosis, but to help spot any signs of ill-being and identify existing support mechanisms: free psychological consultations, stress management workshops, listening facilities, associations, etc.

A digital version of the Barometer is also available on the Université Côte d'Azur website. Accessible from a computer or smartphone, it enables rapid, anonymous and confidential self-assessment, with direct referral to the right help services for each situation.

A strong commitment to student well-being

The launch of this Barometer is part of a global strategy to promote mental health that Université Côte d'Azur has been pursuing for several years. Every year, the Centre de Santé Universitaire provides over 2,200 psychological support consultations for students and staff, thanks to a team of three psychologists working on around ten campuses. Nearly 50 stress management workshops are also offered, to help students cope better with the pressures of study, improve their public speaking skills or acquire relaxation techniques.

Mental health, major national cause 2025

A major national cause this year, mental health is a major social issue, particularly among young people. According to an IPSOS/BVA 2025 survey, only 45% of students consider themselves to be in good mental health, and 60% show signs of psychological distress. Nearly 38% are even considering stopping their studies because of psychological difficulties. These figures are a reminder of the importance of active prevention and local initiatives such as the Baromètre launched by Université Côte d'Azur.

The Baromètre de la santé mentale des étudiants is available from prevention stands on campus, from professionals at the Centre de Santé Universitaire and online.
