Faced with the climate emergency, Université Côte d'Azur is committed to a low-carbon strategy to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions through the Act'Sup step-by-step approach.
This innovative project is supported by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and the Collective for the Integration of Social Responsibility in Higher Education (CIRSES) network, and is supported by two consulting firms: Veracy and Toovalu.
The objective of Act'Sup
The aim of this project is to support the University in building, deploying, monitoring, and evaluating its low-carbon climate strategy. The project will enable the implementation of a transition plan to actively contribute to climate change mitigation by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions using the ACT (Accelerate Climate Transition) methodology.
Act'Sup: a method included in the UN's agenda of solutions
The project is organized in five stages:
Initial assessment of maturity in terms of decarbonization strategy and practices
Analysis of risks and opportunities for the university in the face of climate change and the low-carbon transition,
Development of a collective vision for the path towards a low-carbon world,
Definition of a low-carbon strategy,
Transformation of the detailed strategic plan into concrete actions.
Université Côte d'Azur is part of the second wave of this collective project, which includes 12 higher education institutions. In addition to individualized support, the project includes a component of co-development of the methodology so that it can be even more relevant and applicable in subsequent waves of deployment. It will run for 18 months, until May 2027.
