By Decree n°2024-845 published on July 16, 2024, Université Côte d'Azur acquires the status of EPSCP - Grand Etablissement. This change in status validates the modern and innovative transformation undertaken by Université Côte d'Azur since 2020.

Based on its conviction that this model works, its desire to stabilize it, and the need to clarify its legal status internationally, Université Côte d'Azur sought the opinion of its governing bodies to move away from its experimental status and become a Grand Établissement.
On May 28, 2024, after deliberation by an absolute majority of the Board of Directors, and after favorable opinions from the Comité Social d'Administration d'Établissement and the Comité de pilotage, Université Côte d'Azur has therefore requested to leave the experimental regime in accordance with the order of December 12, 2018.
In January 2024, the follow-up opinion of the Haut Conseil de l'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur (HCERES) "commended the determination with which Université Côte d'Azur has engagede in following up [its] recommendations" and "gives a favorable opinion on the exit of Université Côte d'Azur from the status of experimental public establishment and its transformation into a grand établissement".
