The creation of France's 25th Faculty of Pharmacy, scheduled to open at the start of the 2025 academic year, marks a turning point in the structuring of the Côte d'Azur's healthcare training offering. The decree establishing the pharmacy department was published in the Bulletin officiel on May 1, 2025.
The brainchild of a collaborative effort involving universities (Faculty of Medicine, Université Côte d'Azur), hospitals (CHU de Nice), pharmacies (Pharmaceutical Unions, URPS PACA Est), students (ANEPF) and manufacturers (LEEM), and with the support of the Nice Côte d'Azur metropolitan area, this project is part of a strong interprofessional dynamic.tudiants (ANEPF), industrials (LEEM), and with the support of the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur, this project is part of a strong inter-professional dynamic.
Designed as a pilot model, the department will offer an innovative teaching approach, focused on pharmaceutical care and backed by strategic fields such as environmental health, digital sciences and artificial intelligence (in conjunction with the 3IA Côte d'Azur cluster).
A benchmark in training, pedagogical innovation and local presence
The training program adopts a modular, skills-based approach, including active methods such as simulation, clinical immersion, real-life data analysis and reinforced tutoring. The initial enrolment of 42 students will be gradually increased to 70-80 students, in order to provide high-quality support.
The ambition of the Nice Pharmacy Department is to become a benchmark in terms of training, pedagogical innovation and territorial anchorage, and will be part of the future Université Côte d'Azur Health Campus.
Université Côte d'Azur is thus becoming a key player in the training of tomorrow's pharmacists (pharmacists, hospital staff, industrialists, biologists and researchers), placing the patient-caregiver relationship, innovation and the region at the heart of its ambitions.
The decree accrediting the Université Côte d'Azur to deliver the Diplôme de formation générale en sciences pharmaceutiques was published in the Bulletin officiel on May 1, 2025.
