The Curiosity Club Nice invites the public to an exceptional evening focusing on research, innovation and the place of women in science. On Monday March 24, 2025, starting at 6:30pm, the Grande Coupole of the Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur welcomesSerena Villata, Director of Research at the CNRS and holder of a chair at 3IA Côte d'Azur, for an inspiring talk on her journey as a woman scientist in a field still largely dominated by men: artificial intelligence.
A pioneering AI researcher
A specialist in automatic natural language processing, Serena Villata works on major issues such as the fight against disinformation, cyber-harassment and hate speech. Winner of the Prix de la Jeune chercheuse Inria - Académie des Sciences 2021, she is currently leading the MARIANNE program, an ambitious project bringing together a predominantly female team and aiming to improve the understanding and explanation of automatic decisions.
An event under the banner of parity and the history of women in science
Prior to the conference, the public will be able to discover the exhibition "Les Pionnières de l'astronomie" (Pioneers of Astronomy), which highlights women scientists who have all too often remained in the shadows. The exhibition will be introduced by Olga Suarez, astrophysicist and researcher at Université Côte d'Azur, who will trace the careers of these inspiring figures and discuss the challenges of parity in the field of astrophysics.
