The 1st edition of this ranking, published on November 21, aims to distinguish universities committed to interdisciplinary research. Université Côte d'Azur ranks in the TOP 6-7 nationally and TOP 250 worldwide. This good score reflects the action taken by IdEx since 2016 to stimulate excellence in research.

In the first edition of the Times Higher Education ranking on interdisciplinarity (THE Interdisciplinarity Science Rankings 2025), Université Côte d'Azur is ranked 6-7 nationally and in the TOP 250 (rank 201-250) worldwide.

This ranking, launched in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows, aims to distinguish universities committed to interdisciplinary research because, as THE points out, such research " stimulates innovation and helps solve the world's greatest challenges ". It measures the contributions of universities on the basis of 11 indicators divided into 3 areas representative of the life cycle of research projects (inputs, process and results).

For this first edition, the ranking measures interdisciplinarity in the following disciplines: Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. 749 universities are ranked in 92 different countries (13 French institutions). 179 European universities feature in the ranking, making Europe the second most represented continent, behind Asia.

This is a remarkable achievement in line with the IdEx d'Université Cote d'Azur's commitment to stimulating excellence in research. Initiated in 2016 with the creation of the Academies of Excellence, this approach has been the inspiration for reconfiguring the university into University Research Schools, now the distinctive signature of the major establishment.
