Université Côte d'Azur, a major player in quantum technologies

Cutting-edge scientific expertise

  • Research covering the four main pillars of quantum science: computing, communication, simulation, and sensors.
  • Work ranging from fundamental research to technological applications.
  • Numerous projects supported by the ERC, Quantum Flagship, PEPR Quantique, and ANR.

An international focus

  • Leading-edge collaborations, notably with Majulab, a Franco-Singaporean research laboratory, and the Canada-France Quantum Alliance (CAFQA) network.

Concrete advances in quantum communication

  • Quantum@UniCA, an IdEx-supported project, established France’s first operational quantum communication link in 2021, connecting Nice Valrose, EcoVallée, and SophiaTech.
  • An ambition now focused on extending the network into space, with the Calern Plateau Observatory serving as the ground station.

An ecosystem brought together by QuantAzur

  • Founded in 2022, QuantAzur—the Azur Quantum Federative Institute—brings together the region’s quantum stakeholders.
  • An ecosystem that brings together research, education, innovation, and the socio-economic sector.
