2025 Excellence Awards evening: 73 winners honored

This new edition of the Prix d'Excellence took place on Thursday December 11, 2025 at the Théâtre du Château de Valrose in the presence of the 73 winners, their families and the Université Côte d'Azur community.
In their opening remarks, Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d'Azur, Laurent Counillon, Vice-President of Research and Innovation,Sylvain Di-Giogio, Regional Delegate of CNRS Côte d'Azur and Maureen Clerc, Director of the Inria Centre at Université Côte d'Azur, paid tribute to the daily commitment of the teams and reaffirmed the institutions' support for all courses of excellence.Azur and Maureen Clerc, Director of the Inria Center at Université Côte d'Azur, paid tribute to the daily commitment of the teams and reaffirmed the institutions' support for all courses of excellence.
The ceremony, hosted by Rachele Allena, highlighted the 73 laureates who received prestigious awards during the year. Five of them, recently appointed to the Institut Universitaire de France, were presented through video portraits projected throughout the evening, offering a glimpse into their work and motivations.
Two "Coups de Cœur" were also awarded this year; each of these "Coups de Cœur" comes with a 20,000 euro grant to support their research work.
- Benoît Carry, Assistant Astronomer at the Joseph-Louis Lagrange Laboratory, received the "Coup Coeur" from the Initiative d'Excellence, from the hands of Sylvain Antoniotti,
- Lydie Dussol, Associate Professor at the Cultures et Environnement, Préhistoire, Antiquité, Moyen Âge (CEPAM) laboratory, received the "coup de coeur" from the President of Université Côte d'Azur.
Another highlight was the partnership with Groupe Nice Matin. Eight of the 2025 prizewinners were awarded the Coup de Cœur prize by the newspaper, which also publishes their portraits in its annual special issue Ils font briller la recherche. The awards were presented by Baptiste Bize, Editorial Director of Nice Matin, accompanied by the journalists who helped write and coordinate the supplement: Sophie Casals, Nancy Cattan and Stéphanie Wielé.
