From June 17 to 20, 2025, Université Côte d'Azur hosted the 11ᵉ edition of the International Workshop on UI GreenMetric (IWGM), organized in partnership with Universitas Indonesia.

Université Côte d'Azur hosted the 11th edition of theIWGM (International Workshop on UI GreenMetric), an international event dedicated to sustainability practices in higher education. It is organized in conjunction with the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, launched by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, which now includes over 1,500 universities from 100 countries. The ranking is based on six key criteria: campus infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water management, transport, and education and research.

The 2025 edition of the IWGM, under the theme "Doing Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Stories from Our Institutions and Communities", brought together 130 participants from several continents. The aim was to share concrete, innovative strategies for strengthening universities' commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by highlighting inspiring feedback that could fuel new initiatives on campus.

The meeting opened with a speech by President Jeanick Brisswalter, who recalled the structuring role of universities in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Among the highlights, Cécile Sabourault, vice-president for international relations, spoke about the challenges of protecting marine environments, emphasizing how local actions can be part of a global dynamic. Erwin Franquet, Vice-President, Environmental and Societal Transitions, presented the transformation trajectory undertaken by Université Côte d'Azur to meet the challenges of ecological transition.

Over and above academic exchanges, IWGM 2025 proved to be a real catalyst for initiatives, paving the way for new international synergies in a university landscape where sustainable development is taking on an increasingly central role.
