Université Côte d’Azur and École Polytechnique de Thiès (Senegal) co-organized a three-day international symposium in Senegal entitled “Remote sensing applied to mapping the status and dynamics of West African mangroves: towards an end to the controversies?”
The result of a strong scientific partnership
The symposium took place from December 18 to 20, 2025, following the mission of the Université Côte d'Azur delegation to Senegal, which was held from December 13 to 18, 2025. It is part of the UDYMAO research project funded by the CNRS's DERCI, illustrating the strength of the scientific partnership between the two institutions.
Université Côte d'Azur was represented by Professor Julien Andrieu, a specialist in remote sensing applied to the study of mangroves, who helped organize this event in collaboration with Professors Ababacar FALL of the Ecole Polytechnique de Thiès and El Hadji Balla Dièye of Assane SECK University in Ziguinchor.
This symposium highlighted the major challenges of geomatics and remote sensing for the analysis of environmental dynamics, directly related to the themes addressed by the EUR Society and Environment, in which several teacher-researchers and doctoral students actively participated in the work.
