In a study published in Current Biology, Bruno Hudry's team (Valrose Biology Institute) shows that dosage compensation, a mechanism that balances the expression of X chromosome genes, is essential for the survival of respiratory stem cells in Drosophila flies. This work, published in December 2025 in Current Biology, reveals the first cellular defects explaining the effects induced by X chromosome monosomy.
