On April 22 and 23, 2025, the University of Ottawa hosted the annual Presidential Summit of the U7+ Alliance. A high point marked by the exceptional mobilization of 36 presidents of member universities to reflect together on the major global challenges facing universities and society.

The event was marked by the presentation of a Communiqué on the role of universities in the development of AI to the Canadian government, host of the next G7 summit.

Highly committed to this international alliance, which brings together more than 50 universities from the G7 countries and 12 countries from the Global South, united by the desire to act collectively in the face of major global challenges, Université Côte d'Azur, in its role as General Secretariat of the Alliance since its creation, has been a key player in the development of AI.Azur, as General Secretariat of the Alliance since July 2024, acts with its international partners in the exercise of scientific diplomacy, so that the contribution of universities in the face of global challenges is heard.

Université Côte d'Azur is convinced of the role of universities in creating and disseminating scientifically robust knowledge to combat obscurantism and protect our democracies. The University's contribution to U7+ is part of its broader role in scientific diplomacy and its contribution to multilateral dialogue.

Université Côte d'Azur extends its sincere thanks to the University of Ottawa for its remarkable organization, and to the Universities of Toronto, Montreal and McGill.
