On the occasion of the “Defense, Cybersecurity & AI” event held on June 18 at the VivaTech trade show, Université Côte d’Azur, the CNRS, and Docaposte announced the creation of the LINCS laboratory. The goal is to develop innovative solutions to strengthen digital trust, security, and sovereignty.

The partners’ goal is to verify the reliability of these technologies while promoting an inclusive, ethical, and responsible use of data.

To implement LINCS—the Computer Science Laboratory for Sovereign Digital Trust—research teams from the Sophia Antipolis Laboratory of Computer Science, Signals, and Systems (Université Côte d’Azur/CNRS), which specializes in computer science, and from Docaposte will work for four years to develop a digital trust framework through four research areas:
  1. Securing end users and their data through trusted execution environments;
  2. The use of digital twins to test and ensure this trust;
  3. Developing explainable artificial intelligence techniques;
  4. Improving the automatic generation of arguments for decision-making.

These areas will make it possible, for example, to test cyberattack scenarios in a controlled environment or to make the decisions of AI algorithms transparent and auditable.
This joint laboratory will contribute to the development of innovative projects within Docaposte.
Aligned with the objectives of the France 2030 strategy, Docaposte is thus fully committed to the national effort to promote digital trust and sovereignty.

“The creation of this joint laboratory fully illustrates Université Côte d’Azur’s ability to bring together leading academic and industrial players around strategic issues for our society. In a context where data control and security have become essential, we are reaffirming our commitment to European digital sovereignty based on scientific excellence, innovation, and responsibility. This partnership with the CNRS and Docaposte demonstrates our commitment to transforming research into concrete solutions that foster digital trust among citizens, businesses, and institutions.” Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur
